One of the most influential artists working today, Albert Oehlen constantly questions the art of painting, challenging himself to work within ever-changing para­meters. For BLAU International, he created the aptly titled lithograph BLAU, referencing his acclaimed series of so-called “tree paintings,” which start from the figurative—barren trees—and shift to explorations of pure abstraction.
